Society

The locomotive industry created jobs for factory workers such as mining and railroad working. It also allowed people to work at distant places.

Economics

The locomotive industry spurred socialism as well.

Because of the Rocket, the locomotive industry's popularity grew rapidly in the 1800s. The boost to transportation, agriculture, and communication helped with trade, as well. Since factories opened new job opportunities, miners provided useful mineral resources. For example, iron for the tracks and coal for the steam engines.
