"Private Reserve in Costa Rica" by Jeffrey Brailas
http://www.natureartists.com/artists/artist_artwork.asp?ArtistID=1519&ArtworkID=24329
April 4, 2014
21st Century
Describe: Brailas shows us an image of what looks like a private section of a beach in Costa Rica. There is a lush green forest and waves in the ocean flap onto the jagged rocks at the shore.
Analyze: The painting has some implied strokes in the trees and the blue in the ocean and the sky dominate. The blue contrasts with the green trees and the gray rocks in the sand. The are a few organic shapes.
Interpret: I believe Brailas was showing his favorite part of Costa Rica. The painting is realistic with the shapes used. It looks like a simple painting at first glance but if you look closer, there are many details in the water and the sky. It gives a happy, serene feeling.
