"Corner of the Garden at Montegron" by Claude Monet
http://www.arthermitage.org/Claude-Monet/Corner-of-the-Garden-at-Montgeron.html
Describe: In this painting, the artist is showing a scene of a beautiful garden next to a lake, which is partially hidden here behind the bushes. It looks like spring time. There are green bushes and each seem to be a different shade. The yellows, whites, reds, and soft purples gives us a nice pop of color. The calm lake in the center of the painting also provides a color break.
Analyze: Monet uses implied and rough lines here. White, red, yellow, blue and green are spotted throughout the garden shown. The green that overwhelms the painting contrasts with the blue in the lake and the sky. There are no actual or geometric shapes in the picture.
Interpret: Monet is showing a calm, peaceful spring morning in a bright garden. The picture is bright and happy. The artist might be depicting a favorite place of his or a childhood memory in a similar garden.
