Prostestant
The word protestant comes from the root word "protest" meaning disapproval or to object to. During the Renaissance, many people protested with Martin Luther against the church. The people who protested with him against the church were known as the Protestants. Luther's ideas led to a split in the Roman Catholic Church, the Protestans who followed Luther's teachings were also known as Lutherans. The people protested against the church because they had to go through the church or pope to speak to god. Another reason the people protested was that the people had to do charity work or give their money to the church, many protestants were in disagreement and did not like this.
