Buddhism
Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, or the Buddha, around 530 B.C. It holds many similar beliefs to hinduism. Founded in India, it made its way across Asia and into china and Korea.
⚪️ Buddhists holy text is the three baskets of wisdom.
⚪️ Their house of worship is a shrine
⚪️ There are different sects of buddhism:
⚫️Theravada: they believe buddha is not a god but a spiritual guide
⚫️Mahayana: believe the buddha is a god.
⚪️ Prince Siddhartha Gautama discovered the misery and poverty of his people, which greatly upset him
⚪️he meditated for 49 days and became the buddha.
⚪️ The symbol for the religion is a wheel
⚪️The wheel symbolizes the teachings of the buddha, who "turned the wheel of dharma"
⚪️The eight spokes represent the noble eightfold path.
⚪️The wheel also represents the endless cycle of rebirth, which can only be escaped through the buddha's teachings.
