Maurya Empire

In 321 B.C, a young adventurer named Chandragupta Maurya forged the first indian empire. From 321 to 185 B.C, the maurya Empire flourished

⚪️ Chandragupta first gained his power in the ganges valley.
⚪️ He then conquered India and his later relatives pushed the land south towards the deccan plataeu.
⚪️ He maintained a well-organized bureaucracy. his rule was effective but harsh. He even had secret police.

⚫️ Soon chandragupta's grandson came to rule, Asoka.
⚫️ soon after becoming emperor in 268 b.c, he had to fight one of the bloodiest wars to obtain southern land.
⚫️ Horrified by slaughter, Asoka turned his back on further conquests and resolved to rule peacefully.
⚫️ He converted to buddhism.
