La relajación muscular progresiva es una técnica de tratamiento del control de la activación desarrollada por el médico Edmund Jacobson en los primeros años 1920. Jacobson argumentaba que ya que la tensión muscular acompaña a la ansiedad, uno puede reducir la ansiedad aprendiendo a relajar la tensión muscular.
