Analysis: The bread in the piece looks rough in the center compared to the rest of the painting, which appears to be smooth. Value is different with a very dark background and lighter colors around and on the bread. The piece has positive space. All the space is taken up. In this piece ovals make up much of the objects including the bread itself. The bread is found in everyday life as food. The light colors bring emphasis to the bread and basket.
Interpretation: I believe this piece may have something to do with Jesus and the breaking of the bread. The rough textured pieces of bread are broken messily. The way the basket is wrapped in a smooth white blanket reminds me of the story when Jesus broke the bread and shared it amongst the people.
Judgment: I really enjoy how the piece is mainly focused on the bread. Although it's simple, Dali was able to create an interesting piece of art by making it the center of attention. I believe this artwork can be interpreted in many way and don't believe Salvador was very successful in communicating his idea.
Describe: This piece done by Salvatore Dali is of simply bread in a basket. Holding the basket is a blanket set on a wooden table. Colors are dark in the background and the object itself if light.
