Limited edition flavors are released for customers to try, like the birthday cake and cookie dough. If they hit it off, they will make the flavor more permanent. If is doesn't sell well, they drop it.

 Nabisco also releases many limited edition flavors for holidays, movies, seasons, national events, and more. These include things like gingerbread creme in the winter, and orange colored creme for Halloween. They also released red colored creme cookies for the How to Train your Dragon movie.
