Texturizing Techniques (cont.)
Twisting - standard scissors, take 1" square section and twist, place open blade at bottom of the hair, slide down the seat while slightly opening and closing the blade, when you reach the length you want, close scissors completely.
Channeling - standard scissors, used on the interior of the haircut to create a strong effect with noticeable variations of length, also to reduce bulk.
Razor Tapering - straight razor, use light touch to soften ends of hair, or dramatic effect on interior, cut at 45°angle to the strand.
Back-Slashing - standard scissors, used to create "shattered" look to ends of hair, creates soft look, create circular section on top of head encompassing the crown, pick up subsection and strongly back comb, place open blade into back combed section and slide up toward ends, repeat twice, comb down subsection to see results, repeat if necessary, complete with the rest of subsections in circular section.
