Texturizing Techniques
Thinning - blending or thinning shears, to soften edges of hair, move shears back and forth.
Point Cutting - points of standard scissors, place 1-1.5" into ends of hair, angle blades slightly, and cut V shape. Removes length and softens perimeter by releasing weight and uneven finish to ends.
Chipping - standard scissors, cut perimeter from outside inward to open spaces in weight of perimeter, uneven finish to ends.
Slide Cutting - standard scissors, run blade down shaft of hair with blade closing slightly. Creates separation, reduces bulk, and softens.
Slithering - standard scissors, use back combing motion with blade slightly closed. Creates separation, reduces bulk, and softens.
