For all curls, "rock the base" to begin.
Croquignole: hair 5" or less, bring iron to hair end, roll down, release
Figure 6: hair 5-13", bring iron to middle of hair shaft, tilt and bring ends around the right side of the barrel, while curling, open tongs slightly to let ends begin to wrap around barrel, release
Figure 8: hair longer than 13", same as figure 6, but then after turning barrel once, bring the ends around to the left of the barrel, continue rolling, release
