Due to the vast assembly of listeners, preachers set up outside where thousands could see. One preacher, Charles Finney, exaggerated the sermon frequently to engage listeners.
The Great Awakening also spread religion far and wine. New religions emerged, such as Methodist and Baptist.
Under Richard Allen, the Baptist church emerged, allowing African Americans and Native Americans to worship, as well as fight against slavery.
