John Calvin

Calvin's teachings concentrated on predestination, the idea that God knew who would be saved even before they were born. He thought it was still important to still follow God's laws and live a good life. In 1541, the people of Geneva, Switzerland, had made his their religious and political leader. His followers and him, Calvinists, passed laws which made the people to live by Calvin's teachings. They banned many entertainment activities, since they thought that people were generally sinful.
