King Henry VIII

King Henry VIII was a major figure in the Reformation. Henry, had no sons only daughters and his wife could not conceive anymore children. Because of this Henry asked the pope to end his marriage, officially. He wanted to get married again to conceive a son for the throne. The pope refused his request. Henry was furious and hurt, he did not obey the pope anymore. Henry declared himself the head of the new church, called the England Church or Anglican Church, in 1534. In this church not many things changed from the Catholic Church. Many religious practices, rituals, and beliefs of the Church of England were still the same like the Catholic Church. The break from the church opened the door to other protestant belief to take hold of England.
