500 years after the decline the Mauryan Empire
• The Gupta Empire united India and its
government promised peace and prosperity
- this is known as the Golden Age: a period of
great cultural achievement
• Gupta Empire has strong central government
• Caste system had a major
impact on society
- a caste system is a social
group in which people are born
into and can never be changed out of
• Declines after 2000 years b/c invasions
of White Huns from Central Asia
