ASOKA THE GREAT
• Asoka is the grandson of Chandragupta
• Became ruler in 268 B.C.
• After having a bloody war to have
the Deccan area, he was frightened from
the many deaths
• He then converted to Buddhism
- he ruled oppositely of his grandfather
and sets a moral example
• Asoka spread Buddhism all over Asia
- he put stone pillars with moral advice
through his empire
• When Asoka died, the empire declined
