Funeral:
The funeral (known as "kokubetsu-ship") is usually held right after the wake. It is also very similar to the wake. I sense is offered while a priest chants a sutra. The deceased will receive a new Buddhist name which is believed to prevent the spirit from returning when their name is called. At the end the guests and family may place flowers around the head and shoulders.
