Alkaline Earth Metals
The Alkaline Earth Metals are Beryllium, Magnesium, Calcium, Strontium, Barium, and Radium.
The Alkaline Earth Metals do have a luster when freshly cut.
They do conduct electricity and heat.
Alkaline Metals are reactive.
They are both malleable and ductile.
Alkaline Metals have 2 outer electrons.
Magnesium is used in pyrotechnics which is bombs, flares, signals, and a fuse for thermite.
Calcium is never found as a free element but can be found in salt. Calcium phosphate is used to help fix bones.
Barium is used medically to coat a damaged stomach, intestine, or throat to help be seen easily in a cat scan.
Radium is radioactive and is found naturally in nature. Radium gets into your body by either eating food that has been exposed to it, drinking water exposed to it, or by inhaling dust that has radium in it.
The group number is 2.
Alkaline Earth Metals lose an electron and become positive because they have to many electrons.
