Group 15

The atmosphere is mostly made up of nitrogen. The nitrogen helps hold in the oxygen.

Group 15 has 5 valence electrons.

There are two different types of phosphorus, White Phosphorus and Red Phosphorus and they are both used for different things. White Phosphorus is used in incendiary machines and flares. Red Phosphorus is used on the side of matchboxes to start a match.

Nitrogen is used to make explosives, fertilizers, dyes, nylon, and to preserve foods. Nitrogen can not do those things on its own though it needs to be mixed with other elements to do each specific thing.

The Group 15 elements are Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Arsenic, Antimony, and Bismuth.
