Frigidarium

The frigidarium is the cold room in a public bath. The Romans would use this room after being in the tepidarium and the caldarium. They used this room to cool down, as the tepidarium and caldarium are both warm and hot rooms. The frigidarium had a small pool of cold water, which was used to close the pores of the skin after they had been opened by the tepidarium and caldarium. The water could sometimes be kept cold using snow!
