The Kitchen

The kitchen of a domus was called the culina. These were dark, cramped rooms that had a single clay oven, and no windows or vents to let the air pass through. These were very dangerous places for slaves to work all day, as the gases in the room can severely affect your lungs. But, the Romans didn't care, as long as well-cooked food was brought to their table they would be happy.
