Ecosystems
Organisms are classified into groups based on very basic, shared characteristics. These groups consist of kingdoms, phylum, classes, order, families, genus, and species.
Adaption:
Mimicry of leaves by insects is an adaptation used by Katydids. This adaption is useful for evading predators in their leafy environment.
The creosote bush is a desert-dwelling plant that produces toxins that prevent other plants from growing nearby, thus reducing competition for nutrients and water. This is useful in it's dry environment.
When a member of the population of one species takes up an resource (food, a mate, shelter.) It is no longer available to other members of the population. An example of this are sharks because during times of especially scarce food resources, sharks resort to cannibalism.
