World War I and its Role in the Genocide

With WWI going on Turkish military leaders thought the Armenians were traitors.

➡️If the Armenians thought they could win independence if the Allies won, they would fight with the enemies.

▶️However, the Armenians were loyal subjects in Turkey and caused little trouble.

➡️As the war intensified some Armenians did help the Russians fight the Turks in the Caucasus region.

➡️This lead for the Turkish government to push for the removal of the Armenians on the Eastern front.
