Who are the Young Turks?

➡️ They are a young reform group that lead a revolutionary movement to overthrow Abdul Hamid II in 1908.

What did they promise?

➡️They promised modernization and nationalism for Turkey

➡️The Armenians were hopeful they would receive equality

▶️What the Young Turks really wanted was to "Turkify" the empire

➡️This way of thinking made non-Turks and non-Turk Christians a threat to the new empire.

➡️Before the genocide in 1915 the Armenians would be put through another massacre in1909 called the Adana Massacres by the hands of the Young Turks.

➡️Talaat Pasha, Minister of the Interior was the chief director of the Armenian Genocide.

➡️Enver Pasha, Minister of War was the leading force in the plan to exterminate the Armenians.
