The Genocide and It's Aftermath
➡️The Genocide ended in 1923.
➡️When Turkey surrendered, the Young Turks fled into Germany where they wouldn't be held accountable for the genocide.
➡️Ever since, the Turkish government denies that it was a genocide.
➡They claim that the Armenians were an enemy force and their slaughter was a necessary war measure.
➡️The survivors ended up in orphanages in Syria, Lebanon, and Greece.
➡️Many Armenians reached out to any relatives in other parts of the world.
➡️Some stayed in the Middle East and formed large communities in Syria and Iraq.
➡️Others went to Europe and North America.
➡️Canada and the U.S. had a Near East Relief Effort and poured in aid to the children of Syria and Lebanon
➡️Later on, a group of Armenian men formed Operation Nemesis, in which they went into Germany and assassinated the leaders of the Young Turks.
