Summary

A man with a well-worn notebook tells a tragic love story to a women suffering from Alzheimer’s in the nursing home where they both live. His story takes place in coastal North Carolina in 1946, and it is about the enduring love of Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton. They fell in love one summer and were insuperable until Noah was drafted to World War 2. During his time in the war he would write Allie a letter a day for a year but stopped because Allie would never write back. After the death of Noah’s father Noah began to restore the house where him and Allie always wanted to live. Seven years of not seeing or speaking to each other Allie, now engaged, sees him in the newspaper. She went to vist him where they both realize that they were meant to be together and Allie calls off her wedding.
