alpha permanent wave procedure

creates a natural, even-looking curl

Sectioning/Blocking
1. Shampoo & rinse. Don't overstimulate scalp.
2. Section hair while it is still wet.
3. Start at the front hairline. Spray section with water
4. Comb the hair from the scalp through the ends so it is smooth.
5. Evenly spread the hair between the index & middle fingers of subordinate hand.

Wrapping-end papers
1. Place the first end paper at midlengths, at the front of the blocking, which is the side away from you.
2. Still holding the hair & end paper, place another paper on the underside of the hair.
3. Secure end papers with index & middle finger of your dominant hand & slide the end papers just past the ends of the hair.

Wrapping
1. Pick up a rod (don't let go of the comb) with the fastener on the side of your dominant hand.
2. Place rod on the side close to you at the top of the end paper.
3. Roll hair on the rod. Maintain even tension & a 90 degree elevation. (Keep hair evenly distributed on the rod)
4. Secure the fastener across the top of the rod.
5. Repeat process for the next blocking, directly behind the first.
6. Apply series of rods in this manner, working toward the crown. Place two picks for every two rods.
7. Adjust guest's head position as you wrap so you are always working directly in front of the blocking.
8. In the nape, you may use shorter rods with the same diameter. Continue to place two picks for every two rods.
9. Move to the right side of head. Visualize two, rod-sized sections, sitting side-by-side. Start with section in back & take a horizontal blocking. Place end papers & a rod.
10. Place second rod next to the first one on the same horizontal line at front hairline. Hair that does not fit in the blocking may be left out, this hair will be wrapped later.
11. Continue alternating rod sizes & placement throughout side of head.
12. Wrap the blockings along the face vertically.
