Virgin Lightening & Toning Application

(Double Process)

Sectioning

1. Use comb to section the hair into 4 quadrants, leaving the back right quadrant free & ready for color application.

Guest Comfort & Protection

2. Apply protective cream to the guest's hairline perimeter. If hair length is at the hairline or longer, apply protective cream & foil strips to the neck.

Color Formula

3. After sectioning, mix the color formulas you will be using in small enough batches to keep color fresh.

Strand Test

24. Use Natural Remaining Pigment chart as a guide, check to see if midlengths are half-way to desired level of lightening.

25. Isolate small amount of hair & use dry towel to gently wipe off product & observe the level & tone.

Subsectioning & Product Application to Midlengths/Ends

4. Begin at the nape in the back right quadrant.

5. Take a 1/4" diagonal subsection from the nape to the center part & lay subsection over a gloved hand.

6. Use other hand to apply formula 1, avoiding the scalp area & working from midlengths though the ends.

7. When applying formula 1 to mid lengths & ends, be sure to turn hair over & generously apply product to both sides.

8. After, gently lay the saturated subsection away from guest's face.

Strand Test

19. During processing, isolate a small amount of hair. Use dry towel to gently wipe off the product. Fold the hair in half, back over itself & observe the color development.

20. Check frequently for the desired level of lift & NRP. Reapply lightener to the strand if you are continuing the process.

9. Work from the nape to the final subsection at the top of the ear. As you work upward, pivot subsections slightly toward ear so you will eventually finish with a vertical subsection at the end of the quadrant.

10. Repeat process in the back left quadrant.

11. Move to front right quadrant, take a vertical subsection from the to top of ear to point of distribution. Apply formula 1 to midlengths & ends.

12. Work toward front hairline, laying each away from face.

13. Repeat process in front left quadrant.

Product Application to Scalp Area

14. Mix fresh formula 1.

15. Start in back right quadrant by outlining the quadrant along all parts. Lift hair up to reach the nape & behind ear. Overlap the previously applied product with fresh mixed formula 1.

16. Starting at nape, use tail of color brush to separate a 1/4" diagonal subsection.

17. Apply formula 1. to scalp area, overlap previously applied product & reapply color all the way down the subsection.

18. Move to back left quadrant & repeat process.
