sections 3 & 4

1. move to front right lower section & take diagonal subsections, working with guest's natural hairline. leave some hair free along hairline & weave highlights.

2. continue taking diagonal subsections, working away from hairline toward the occipital bone in section 3. when the subsections become narrower than the foil, leave the remaining hair free.

3. repeat this process in the front left of section 4.

4. by leaving the last subsections free in sections 3 & 4, you have created a "V" shaped subsection. Clip it away.

sections 5 & 6

1. start at front hairline in section 5, taking diagonal subsections & using the natural hairline as a guide. remember to take fine weaves along the hairline because the hair is naturally finer in texture.

2. continue working towards to the center part & leave the last subsection free & clip it away.

3. repeat this process in section 6.

the diamond

1. because the last subsections in sections 3-6 have been left free & clipped away, a diamond-shaped section is formed.

2. starting on bottom right edge of the diamond & take a diagonal subsection. weave & apply formula on the foil. 3. repeat this process working diagonally across the diamond

4. make sure to leave a subsection of hair free above the last foil of the diamond.

guest comfort & protection

1. for guest comfort during processing, bend the foils away from the face.

strand test

1. start processing when all the product has been applied in the foil packets

2. to check processing progress, open a foil packet in the last subsection. use a dry towel to gently wipe off the product. fold hair in half back over itself & observe the color level & tone.

6 Basic Section Full Head Foil

color formulas:

-mix color formula(s) you will be using on guest.

sectioning:

-section hair into six basic sections

sub-sectioning/product & foil packet application

sections 1 & 2

1. start in section 1 in the back right of the head. Take a diagonal subsection (following the natural hair-line).

2. apply tension to the subsection & use the end of a metal tail comb to weave in & out along the surface of the subsection at the scalp.

3. pinch & separate the woven hair & lift it so the foil can be inserted underneath, close to the scalp.

foil/product application

1. ribbon the edge of a foil.

2. place edge of foil against the scalp, in the part. the woven hair to be colored should be on top of the foil.

3. dip hair color brush into your formula & scoop product onto the tip. place hand underneath foil to keep it near the scalp & to support product application

4. start at midlengths & brush the formula down to the ends. return to midpoint of subsection with formula & move toward the scalp. STAY ATLEAST 1/16" AWAY FROM EDGE OF FOIL.

foil folding

1. crease & fold the foil in half. then fold again, leaving the foil about 1/2" from the top. allows easy removal & keeps the top edge of the foil close to the scalp.

2. take another diagonal subsection in section 1 & apply formula to another 3 to 5 diagonal foil packets.

3. repeat this process in section 2.

4. combine the two subsections by bricklaying the foils so the highlights are staggered for a more natural looking result.
