permanent wave procedure continued...

Guest Comfort & Protection

1. When ALL hair is wrapped, apply protective cream around the perimeter of the hairline.

2. Starting at front hairline, place a length of cotton coil over the cream. Tucks the ends together at the nape.

Solution Application

1. If hair is dry, lightly mist with water before applying perm solution.

2. Using applicator bottle, begin at crown & work down to the nape.

3. Thoroughly saturate all rods with solution. Apply at the top & middle of each rod.

4. Beginning at the top, saturate the left side, then the right side.

5. Repeat this process a SECOND time to ensure all rods are saturated with perm solution.

6. Remove the saturated cotton around the hairline. Apply new layer of protective cream & replace with new cotton that has been lightly misted.

7. Place plastic cap over hair if recommended. Make sure all rods are inside cap & plastic DOES NOT touch guest's skin.

Processing

1. Follow manufacturer's guidelines for the processing procedure & time.

Test Curl

1. ALWAYS take the first test curl after 5 minutes. Do not remove the plastic cap when reaching for the curl you want to test.

2. Remove the picks & undo rod's fastener. Gently unwind, turn the rod away from you & let hair fall into an "S" pattern.

3. If hair is not fully processed, rewind the rod & wait another 5 minutes. Check a different curl every 5 minutes until processing is complete.

Rinsing

1. After processing, take guest to shampoo bowl & rinse hair & rods thoroughly with warm water.

2. Hold the nozzle close to the rods.

Blotting

1. After thoroughly rinsing, blot each rod with a towel, squeezing each rod to remove moisture. Blow each individual rod with paper towel.

Applying Neutralizing Solution

1. Still at shampoo bowl, use applicator bottle to apply neutralizing solution. Follow same system used to apply perm solution.

2. Allow neutralizer to remain on hair for 5 minutes.

Rinsing the Neutralizing Solution

3. Rinse the neutralizing using slightly COOLER water.

4. Remove the rods & dispose of the end papers as you take them out of the hair.

5. Apply a light conditioner & rinse.

6. Rinse the rods & remove them from the shampoo bowl.
