Operation Ajax

• The CIA worked with the United Kingdom to overthrow the elected government of Iran and get rid of the prime minister.

• Lead by CIA operative Kermit Roosevelt, Jr. Grandson of Theodore Roosevelt.

• The first attempt was not successful.

• It started August 15, 1953 and lasted until August 19,1953.

• Once they found the prime minister, he was originally sentenced to death, but it got changed. It was changed to 3 years,solitary confinement in a military prison and put on house arrest until his death.
