Thomas Jefferson (contd.)
12th Amendment- Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr tied in the Election of 1800. At that time, whoever got 1st and 2nd in votes was President and Vice President. But because they were in opposites political parties, and disagreed on pretty much everything, the 12th amendment was made, so the President chose a VP and ran on the same ballot.
LA Purchase- French Napoleon wanted to take over the world, but needed money for his army too. So, he gave the U.S. More land for money because he thought our army wasn't strong enough to beat his. We now controlled the Mississippi River, and we just doubled the size of the U.S.
Lewis and Clark Expedition- Lewis and Clark are the two most famous adventurers in American History. Which is ironic because they failed. They were in search of a water source all the way to the Pacific Ocean, and found none.
