Because of the Boston Tea Party, King George decided to punish the colonists. He passed four new laws. The first law said that no ship could come or leave the Boston Harbor. Second, Massachusetts colonists were not allowed to hold town meetings more than once a year without the governor's permission. The third law stated that customs officers who were to be tried for a major crime, to be tried in Britain or Canada instead of Massachusetts. Finally, as a fourth law, the Quartering Act was passed which allowed redcoats to stay in anyone's house if there was nowhere else to stay. Plus, the colonists had to feed them. Parliament passed all of these laws, but they should've realized that this help the colonists by pushing them colser to the Revoultion.
