Mercy Otis Warren
Since very few women went to school, Mercy learned how to read and write when her brothers we were taught by her uncle. When one of her brothers enrolled to Harvard, she increased her knowledge by studying with him. Later, when her brother James Otis was beaten by officials of the British , she became more active in the political activities. She and her husband, James Warren, held protest meetings at their home. Mercy also used her writing to write propaganda for the patriotic cause.
