Since the beginning of time governmental control was passed from blood lines. Placing a gap from subjects to royalty. Meaning that political and social authority was subject to an individual. Examples of this kind of rule are absolute monarchies, which should not to be mistaken with a constitutional monarchy since they can limit the power of a ruler, and the last example is somewhat shown in some dynasties. Power allows a leader of a chosen territory to control whatever aspect of the habitants lives, without their permission or consent. The only exception is Athens, where the first form of democracy was established. Finally placing some power to the people. No matter the form of government they all have one goal, to remain the most successful and to have all supremacy among others. Power is not an object but an idea of having the right of influence to change or alter anything within their environment for some kind of economical or political gain. Which is why power should be simply defined as the “capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events,” as stated by Merriam Webster. Without power there would be no leadership, change in policies, and order.

A. From the beginnings of its formalization with governments, what defines ‘power’?
