By the contemporary period the establishment of democracy changed mentalities on how power should be spaced out. No longer were decisions over habitants lives coming from a single person but a governmental structure created to balance out the amount of authority placed. An example of ways balance remains in check is by the establishment of three branches of government (judiciary, executive, and legislative) like the type of government we have is the United States. People could now speak out or even petition against the power of the government, without having to face execution. Individuals choosing to hold executive office could do it, being a descendant and part of the royal bloodline was no longer required. Power no longer relies to work on fear and dehumanization of others simply through knowledge. Now power comes in different forms no longer does it just depend on government and religion but even economical and thru social media. Influencing of events and ideas can come from anyone who is confident enough, fearless, and knowledgeable. However communism, constitutional, and absolute monarchies are still current forms of governments in countries but this time around, their ideas are being challenged by countries with democracies. Although power has further expanded into different forms within a government, military control along with scientific progress is still existent within all types of government back then and even now. Also, the definition of power has still not changed.

c. How has ‘power’ changed? How has it not?
