Intolerable Acts
Spring, 1774
The Intolerable Acts were meant to punish the Bostonians, it shut down the Boston Harbor (no trade), created the Quartering Acts (had to take in British soldiers if they were asked to), and General Thomas Gage (new Governor of Mass.) declared martial law. The committees of correspondence set up the First Continental Congress and the British did this to get control of MA. and did not like hearing the 13 colonies were going to meet together.
