Battle of Lexington and Concord
April 18th-19th, 1775
General Gage heard about the smuggling (which included weaponry) done by Sam Adams and John Hancock in the town of Concord. 700 Redcoats marched toward Concord along Lexington Road. The colonists had heard of this plan and sent Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Samuel Prescott to warn that the British are coming. When the Redcoats finally reached Lexington, the minutemen were stationed there to distract them, an unknown shot was fired and after a 15 minute battle, 18 men lay dead or injured. When the British finally reach Concord all of their stocks were gone and they turned back towards Boston. While on their way back to Boston, the minutemen would hide behind trees and pick them off one by one. This is the first battle of the American Revolution.
