Demons
By: Imagine Dragons
Track 3: Demons by Imagine Dragons is about the darkness within humans which is clearly shown in Macbeth throughout the play. The line, "No matter what we breed We still are made of greed" is stating the way one is raised, no matter what, they will always want something for themselves. Macbeth for instance, was a great and respected warrior who was given a greater title, Thane of Cawdor, but not as great as the king of Scotland. As his greed gets the better of him, Macbeth is tempted to kill the king to recieve the title, which in the end, he does. While agreeing to commit the deed, Macbeth states, "False face must hide what the false heart doth know." meaning they must not show their muderous intent on their face which can be related to the lyrics, "Look into my eyes It’s where my demons hide." The eyes can give away what one's feelings are, which would show Macbeth's greed, ambition, and murderous intent to recieve the crown.
