Sarah Smiles
By: Panic At the Disco
Track 2: "Sarah Smiles" by Panic At the Disco is a song about meeting a girl who has caused him distress. This song describes Macbeth's relationship with Lady Macbeth. In the beginning of the song, "I was fine, just a guy living on my own, Waiting for the sky to fall. Then you called and changed it all, doll." this describes Macbeth at the beginning of the play, who was respected for being a strong warrior. The last part of this lyric symbolizes the profecy he recieved and informed Lady Macbeth of, which changed his life. In Act 1 scene 7, Lady Macbeth pursuades Macbeth into killing king Duncan which relates to the lyric," And when I think I'm right,You strip away my pride,You cast it all aside." As Macbeth decides to stop their plan, Lady Macbeth begins to pursuade Macbeth and insults his pride, asking if he was a man. Her way of having him follow what she says is similar to, "you fooled me once with your eyes now honey, you fooled me twice with your lies..." The first time would be when Lady Macbeth convinced macbeth into killing Duncan. The second time he was fooled, or persuaded, by her was when Lady Macbeth says, "A little water clears us of this deed."
