Viva La Vida
By: Coldplay
Track 5: Viva La Vida by Coldplay is about a king who has lost his title which connects to Macbeth when he is killed. The overall theme of the song, absolute power corrupts absolutly, also applies to Macbeth when he recieved the king title, and continues to kill because no one can question his actions. The lyric, "People couldn't believe what I'd become" shows the king becoming a tyrant, which also applies to Macbeth, who at first was a great warrior who people respected, however after recieving the crown, is now known as a tyrant. The line "blew down the doors to let me in" means forcefully entering, which represents how Macbeth forcefully recieved the crown by killing Duncan. And after continuously killing innocent lives, Macbeth's head is severely wanted similar to the line, "Revolutionaries wait, For my head on a silver plate" meaning they want death to come to the king.
