The clothing was very complex in the 1800's and included many components for women and men.

Women wore corsets, long gowns and gloves. Farmers wore smocks and overalls while the wealthier wore fancy clothes. Girls and boys wore dresses until a certain age.

A Union army uniform consisted of a hardee hat, a Prussian blue, knee-length coat and sky blue trousers.

A Confederate Army uniform consisted of a wool gray or brown coat with buttons down the front an epaulettes.
