During the civil war, people in the north participated in activities such as hunting, reading books and playing sports. In the south, enslaved African Americans sang spirituals and passed down old folk stories.
The activities that people were involved in during the civil war included, singing, reading, sports religious and agricultural activities.
To enjoy culture and the arts, people joined the Romantic movement, wrote novels, poems and painted nature.
