Creating "Two Bowls"

To begin your fish, you must create its hollow body. The most efficient and easiest way of accomplishing this task would be to create, what I call, "two bowls." These "bowls," however, aren't made just by shaping a round ball of clay, although that's part of it. The steps for this process are listed below, be sure to do them twice:

1.) Wedge and moisten a chunk of clay
2.) Using your hands and a table, round your clay into the shape of a small ball (a little bigger than the palm of your hand)
3.) Now, with your thumb pointed straight downwards, press into the clay until you reach about an inch from the bottom.

4.) This is the tricky part. You are going to remain with your thumb inside the clay, and your other four fingers along the outside
5.) Gently pull the clay from the lower side upwards with your fingers (be sure you aren't pinching or squeezing)
6.) You will do this for a while, until your clay is in the general "bowl" shape. The top rim should be about an inch-and-a-half wide.
