While working at the Mount Wilson Observatory, Hubble took detailed photographs of distant stars located outside the Milky Way. He classified galaxies by sorting them by distance, brightness, shape, and content.
In 1929, Edwin came up with "Hubble's Law", which stated that the universe has a constant rate of expansion, and calculated that rate.
The rate of expansion is 70 km/s per MPC
Hubble married Grace burke in 1924, but did not have any children. He fought in WWII in 1942, but decided he was more helpful and productive working at a scientist, and returned to work at the Mount Wilson and Mount Palomar observatories.
Edwin Hubble died on September 28, 1953
