After graduating from high school, Hubble was offered a 50% scholarship to the University of Chicago. Hubble paid off the other half with tutoring and summer jobs, and graduated in 1910 with a degree in mathematics and Astronomy.

Because of his extraordinary work in both his academic and athletic careers, Hubble was offered the Rhodes Scholarship to attend Oxford University in England. Due to his fathers dying wish, and his own uncertainty, Hubble studied Law, rather than science, at Oxford. He graduated in 1913 and returned to the United States. In 1914, he received his doctorate degree from the University of Chicago for astronomy.
