Early Career
After returning to the US, Hubble went to live with his family in Louisville, Kentucky, in order to support them after his father's death. There he started his own Law firm. He soon discovered that Law was not for him.
During 1914, Hubble taught at the New Albany School to teach Spanish, physics, math, and to coach basketball. He was a popular teacher, however once the school year ended he decided to pursue astronomy at the Yerkes Observatory. After he received a
doctorate in astronomy from University of Chicago,
Hubble served as a soldier in WWI. He then
joined the Mount Wilson Observatory in CA and
worked with the two largest telescopes in the world;
60 and 100 inch reflecting Hooker telescopes.
