The knowledge for any medical was very basic. Although the men during the war had a chance to die from serving, there was a higher risk for the men to pass away from the diseases or infections. The preventions for any of these were very fatal. The diseases that ceased the men included, measles, small pox, malaria, dysentery, or even pneumonia. America was way too smart for these little un-sanitary cells, they created a Sanitary Commission. The Commission was to lead the men to have proper hygiene techniques. Amputation was also used during the Civil War. The doctors would chop off any part when needed.

Medicine/Treatment

Most of the doctors/nurses were volunteer. They didn't know much. Since they knew very little, it became difficult for them to cure any man wounded or in need of aiding. A well known nurse then creates the now famous, American Red Cross. These helpers would need to treat any man, basically anywhere, churches, home, and pavilions.
