Phases of pancreatic secretion

- we think about or anticipate food
- Vagus nerve
- causes secretion of about 20% of the enzymes, but the enzymes are not flushed out
and tend to remain in the ducts

1. Cephalic Phase

2. Gastric Phase

- food enters the stomach
- Neural stimuli
- accounts 5-10%, the absence of serous flow these secretions tend to remain in the ducts

3. Intestinal Phase

- food enters the small intestine
- both serous pancreatic secretion become copious due to the hormone secretin
